The Ultimate Hiking Drone
Hiking and camping sparked my love for aerial photography. I bought my first drone for hiking. These hikes taught me how to fly a drone. Unlimited miles to practice flying until I was confident with my aerial photos. I loved flying ahead when hiking along the river and taking images of the curves and imperfections of the river. Also got to see a lot of areas I couldn’t see prior to me utilizing a drone.
I started by buying a DJI Spark, which lasted a week before I exchanged it. Lost signal really fast and very short flight times. Plus, I’m getting old and vision is too. So, squinting at my cell phone to see the image was not impressive nor fun to fly. I exchanged for a DJI Mavic Pro and still use it and love it to the day. DJI makes amazing drones!
I mean look how cool that is, this drone fits in the palm of my hand. When folded this thing almost could fit in my pocket. If it was still Jncos days, I’d be hooked up.
As for the remote, I am equally impressed. I play Xbox, and it was pretty much just like playing a video game. Hadn’t flown before these drones, and I picked it up liked I had for my entire life. So easy to operate. As you can see from the image, it as equally portable as the drone itself.
I did end up buying a Mavmount for my iPad 10.5″ Pro, so I have lost some of the portability. But I did gain the extra screen size, which really helps with my old eyes. Which you can see, doesn’t get to out of hand for size.
This was and still is the ultimate hiking drone. Portable, light, easy to use and takes amazing aerial video and photos. After flying with it for two years, I decided to start this aerial photography business. I had never had a hobby that I felt so passionate about. Started studying for my Part 107 FAA license and passed July 9th of 2019. Eight days later I I had my business name filed with my county.

And as you can see I like water. I couldn’t fly over water for a long time. Scared the crap out of me. After I got over it, this happened. I can’t stay away from it. So much hidden beauty from above!
