Breckenridge Colorado Aerial Trip
Breckenridge Colorado Aerial Trip
I decided to share a trip I took a few months ago, a trip to Breckenridge CO. I didn’t post much of this trip due to the weather had horrible plans for us. I didn’t get to fly my drone much, which made me really sad…
We started heading to Breckenridge late May 8, 2019 from Madrid, Iowa. We ended up stopping at North Platte, Nebraska to crash for a bit after driving almost 7 hours. Couldn’t check in until 4pm, May 9th and we were going to be pretty early. We got a little to excited about the cabin in the woods and left way too early.
After waking up and having awesome free hotel breakfast we hit the road again with roughly five hours left, or so, we thought. After stopping at Sam’s and a few shops we started heading up the mountain. I had the extreme pleasure of driving into near blizzard like conditions once we hit around Idaho Springs, CO. Made for great driving conditions.
Don’t get me wrong I’m an Iowa farm boy. Driving on gravel roads since the day I figured out how to take my parents keys when they were sleeping. But the roads were f*n scary. My knuckles couldn’t have gotten any whiter due to I had no blood left in my fingers. I white knuckled my 2012 Dodge Avengers steering wheel for roughly three hours. That three hours should have been one!
I drove so slow going up that mountain. The cabin we stayed at was at 11, 008 feet. Way up in the mountains. I thought May, we would be fine. I was wrong. We had probably six to eight inches of snow that night, most I believe, on our way up. That’s my story anyways.
But I won’t keep going on about the really scary, I thought we were going to die drive to Breckenridge, CO story. Let’s talk about the images and video.
The images and video for this trip were very disappointing. The weather did not cooperate for my drone, or my comfort level. I also had a bunch of images that had a blue haze when I was using my lens filters. This happened to be the last time I used any type of lens filters, Lol. I had about a day and a half to two days to fly, otherwise wind or snow. And to top it off, just realizing my drone did not need any type of filters. The camera is amazing on its own. Don’t get me wrong, very beautiful place. Did get a lot of beautiful images. But, not in May though, unless you bring snow shoes.
Hope you enjoy what I did get. Come check the full aerial image gallery on my Facebook Page, or the longer video on my YouTube Page.
